Yesterday, your garage door was working perfectly fine – and then all of a sudden, the door opener starts beeping! That constant beeping can get pretty frustrating when you don’t know the cause or how to get it to stop.
If this is happening to you, the good news is that you can usually stop the beeping on your own without having to call in the professionals.
Here are a few reasons why your garage door opener might be beeping:
1. If you’re using a Liftmaster timer-to-close or other similar technology, the garage door opener will beep to indicate when the door is closing. So if you only hear beeping when you’re shutting your garage door, that’s normal. But if you hear beeping more frequently than that, there may be another cause.
2. Garage door sensors that aren’t aligned properly can prevent your door from shutting, which can cause your opener to beep. You can give us a call if you need help fixing your sensor alignment!
3. Your garage door might be operating on battery power. Whenever that happens, the opener will beep to let you know it’s running on the backup battery. This will usually only happen during a power outage, but it can happen on its own, too.
4. Your backup battery might be running low on power or unable to recharge. If your garage door opener beeps every 30 seconds, you might need to replace your backup battery. You can look for the LED light on your garage door opener to see if that’s the case. This video below shows you where to look if you’re not sure where the LED light is located.
